Do the guitar hero instruments work for Rock Band games?

I have a 360 and am lookign at buying it one of these days but I also want the Green Day one. Also does it work the other way around?

Well, I think only some do. For example, I have Rock Band and I use my Guitar Hero 3 controller for it. I'm not sure if ALL controllers do though.
