Can i play games with this gaming pc?

Would I be able to play PC games well without a gaming PC?

  • I've heard a lot of gamers say that you can't but I'm skeptical to why. Maybe specs or so. Anyway, I want to play some games however while they do have console ports I ...show more

  • Answer:

Any newer games with decent graphics would require at least a dual core PC and a good video card with 2+ GB of RAM. If your PC does not meet those minimums, it's probably cheaper to buy a console than to upgrade the PC.

Let me tell you something. People completely over exaggerate about this kind of stuff saying "if you don't have a dedicated video card, you can't play any games." Thats totally incorrect. Heres my setup: (I got this completely new from best buy on a $500 budget last year- it was an * extraordinary* deal) Toshiba L505-S5971 Intel core 2 duo [email protected] 4gb ddr2 ram intel gma 4500mhd (integrated graphics, 128mb dedicated video memory) 15.6' widescreen 1366x768 Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (btw its a laptop if you haven't figured it out) Even though I have an integrated graphics card (gamers worst nightmare) I can still manage to play cod mw2 at low setting and full resolution (1366x768) at around 30-40fps. Sure its not 60fps but you'd be amazed at how lag-free and smooth the game runs. I can also manage to play dragon age: origins at low settings and full resolution at around 25-30 fps. It's not AS great, but If I lower the resolution down to say 1280x768 or so I can run it pretty smoothly. I also play the sims 3 but thats not a very demanding game, but it runs as smooth as it should. Most older games run fine at full settings and resolution, like gta: san andreas, battlefield 1942, counter strike, as well as games like league of legends and guild wars. But of course, intel has really made improvement in their integrated graphics, supporting pixel shader 4.0 and directx 10 (which meets most if not all of the current games out there!) But thats talking about pc/laptop made in the last 2-3 years. It would be extremely helpful if you could list your full pc specifications including: -CPU & Clock speed -GPU & Available/Dedicated memory -Total System Memory optional: Power Supply (wattage) Monitor (resolution) And yes, I'm not lying to those who don't believe me. I've monitered my framerate on all the games

games which were released till 2006 can be played without a gaming pc.add more ram its cheap.videocard is important for modern games.its also cheap its only 50$.and it give perfomance and graphics more than a console.get a cheap nvidia 9600 gt or ati radeon 4670

Some less clunky games might work well but pc games like halo etc might go a bit slowly. would recommend getting as much ram as possible.
