Do you need friend codes to play people on mario kart wii?

    yeh you can play random people you dont know you just go into the WFC option in the main menu and there should be a link on there called race or something like that then click on continent or worldwide itll then ask you to choose your character, kart and either auto or manual... once youv done that your ready to race people you dont know

You can just play online thru the game on the Mario Kart Channel without a friend's code, if you just want to play random people. If you want to play someone you know, you will need their friends code. Hope this helps!
