How do I get yellow stains out of my laundry?

Laundry stains? How to get stains out of underwear?

  • Some everyday stains, some urine, some mentstrual stains. I have tried cold water for washing, I have tried some stain removers, I have tried bleach, and borax and nothing seems to get the stains completly out. I have tried soaking and scrubbing. Do I just need to buy darker colored underwear?

  • Answer:

The key to treating blood and menstrual stains (and most other protein-based stains) is to soak the garment in cool water immediately, while the stain is still wet.  Once the stain dries it becomes much harder to get rid of.  While soaking, add an enzyme-based treatment like Amaze.  Some rubbing might be required.   Put the garment along with the Amaze-laden soak water into the washing machine and run it through as usual, with laundry detergent. Or treat the wetted garment with any of the spray treatments, like Spray-and-Wash. Again, some gentle rubbing will help.  Wash it while the Spray-and-Wash is still wet on the cloth. For light or white undies, add bleach to the wash.  Oxyclean contains bleaching agents (not chlorine bleach though) and some enzymes.  I'm not sure about the enzymes, they are very secretive about what's in it. [1] If you have overlooked a stain, and you let the garment go through the dryer, there is basically very little you can do to remove the baked-in stain, except to keep washing it with bleach.  This will ultimately damage the fibres (but it'll look clean!) and the garment will wear out sooner.   If you do this regularly, then darker underwear will be a wise choice. http://oxiclean.ca/Articles/the-science-of-oxiclean%C2%AE/?utm_campaign=Stains&%7Bcopy%3Amkwid%7D_d%7Bdevice%7D=

If you have a Daiso store in your area, you could always try the feminine detergent. Just Google "Daiso feminine detergent". Else - I just soak it in water with some laundry detergent and salt when I can't deal with it right away. They say salt helps with the blood stains.
