Can I download PS3 games whilst ps3 not wired up to tv?

If I wired up my ps3 to my TV, and then started to download a game, then disconnected the HDMI cable but the ps3 is still on, will it continue the download?

Yeah, it will. Just don't turn off the PlayStation 3 and leave it connected to the internet and you should be good to go.
