    It is both. Microsoft didn't do a good job of heat distribution, and consumers cram the console into tight spaces so it can't breath or let out all the heat it creates.

i take GREAT care of my stuff. expecially expensive electronics. and my 360 crapped out twice on me. it is 100% microsofts fault. they rushed the 360 out to get a jump on the ps3 and didnt perform enough tests on it and well, you know the rest. the system is junk and if you ask me, i dont get why people still buy the hunk of crap. especially when a much better machine (the ps3) is on the market.

its on both ends, but mostly Microsoft's. they're chip sets inside the 360 overheat easily. we have to make sure they're properly vented so that you won't get the ring of death. but the main reason is that Microsoft cheaped out on the original chip sets

well my lad has had 3 upto now it was the red ring of death and he takes good care of it.
