  syrian hamsters often don't fit in tubes, so mine has a 20 gallon tank, with a wheel, a little hut, hamster furniture, a water bottle and foodbowl. get your hamster food at walmart if you have one by you. also get the water bottle and food bowl too. much cheaper than at the pet store. make sure you also get them a wheel, and a ball. & some chew toys. get them ones that specifically mention for hamsters. mine loves ones called cheesies chews they also have to chew to keep their teeth trimmed & healthy. don't use wood bedding, it can be bad for their respiratory system. you can also, at the walmart supercenter get critter care all natural bedding. it's the exact same thing as carefresh, just much cheaper. it's even made by the same company. don't feed it fruit often, it can cause wet tail. they love carrots and broccolli and many other vegetables. don't feed it many store bought treats, the only ones i ever feed my hamster are "healthy bits" by kaytee & "bake shop treat pretzets'' by wild harvest. :)
