In my experience (I am Australian) emus have no commercial use. Their meat tastes horrible and is so stringy you can knit with it. Their feathers are thin and oily (they don't fly so there is no need for proper plumage). There may be some use for their leather and I suppose their big eggs may be useful for something but I can't imagine what. If you ever meet an emu up close, you will discover that they're pretty gross.

emu is a ponzi scheme. it makes money only for those that get in early and raise birds to be "breeding stock" to sell to new farmers. those that get in later and buy them to produce meat are the ones that go broke.
