  Right these down because you'll need em. #1 Click on the Windows icon located at the far left side of the tool bar at the bottom of your computer's desktop. Choose the "Shut Down" option and then click on "Restart." Step 2 Wait for the manufacturer's logo to appear on your monitor while the computer is loading up. Press the F8 key repeatedly until a new black and white menu screen appears. # Step 3 The Safe Mode Menu Use the down arrow key on your keyboard to scroll down through the list of options. Highlight the option labeled as "Safe Mode" and press the "Enter" key. Wait for the Windows XP Pro operating system to finish loading. # Step 4 Folder Options Double-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop or click on the Start bar and then choose "My Computer." Click on the "Tools" option on the tool bar at the top of the window. Wait for a drop-down menu to appear and then click on the "Folder Options" button. # Step 5 Hidden Files and Folders Click on the "View" tab and then scroll down through the list of advanced settings until you find the "Hidden Files and Folders" entry. Click on the radio button labeled as "Show Hidden Files and Folders." Click on the "Apply" button to save the change. # Step 6 Press the "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Delete" buttons on your keyboard at the same time to bring up the task manager.
