Summer Olympics question?

Maybe a stupid question. But are the summer Olympics always in Americas summer?

  • or like when they were in Australia were they during our winter?

  • Answer:

They're always in August... which is Summer for the vast majority of world residents. If you live in the southern hemisphere, then August is winter. So, does that answer your question?

Depends. Usually in US summer but not several not: Melbourne1956 was Nov-Dec; Tokyo 1964 and Mexico City 1968 were both Oct. Seoul 1988 was Sept-Oct Sydney 2000 was Sep-Oct. Main factor is the climate of the host country.

there is a time period between which the games must be held. i cannot remember what the period was but i tihnk it was mid July to the end of August Doha recently had their bid rejected for the 2016 games because their proposed dates were in October The Sydney games were in September so it was spring here, which would have been Autumn in the northern hemisphere I am thinking that time period rule is a recent inclusion as Rio's proposed dates are in August, but this period is also the only period that fits in with most sports as they usually have a break around this time of the year
