Electric gold plated probably. But I don't know what the base metal is because you really don't know with metal products manufactured in China. As to their claims that it's a piece of jade on the back, I don't think it's pure jade, could be one of those man-made faux jade products that China makes nowadays. The 3 colors doesn't look right and it looks too flush to the surface of the medal.
