You must be using and older version of chrome. Google Chrome is known for its speed and stability. Update it. Click on the rightmost icon and then click on 'about google chrome'. Chrome will check for the available updates and will download it. The current version of google chrome is 5.0.375.55. But if your google chrome is updated and even then it crashes, then virus or malware may be the culprit . In that case scan the computer with good antivirus program.

It could be that Chrome did not install properly the first time. It usually happens with software sometimes. Uninstall Chrome and re-install it. Make sure that disable any anti-virus / spyware utility that are running. After the install, just enable the utilities again. Good luck!
