The internet is own by all the different owners of the hardware you use for the internet. Now the World Wide Web (www), nobody owns that as of yet. There are some grumblings from various governments throughout the world to create an agency to control (in other words own) the web. So far, not happening.

Hackers built the internet and they run the internet. When I say Hackers, I mean programmers and networking wizards. The mainstream media has a skewed view of what a Hacker is. The people they refer to as hackers are actually crackers. A Hacker builds things, a cracker tries to break them down.
