Foster Parent Program Licensed foster parents who are eligible and within Basic Health's(BH) income guidelines pay only $17 per month, per licensed foster parent, and may enroll other family members in subsidized Basic Health. They may also apply for Basic Health Plus for their children who are under age 19. This program offers additional benefits for children, and is jointly administered by BH and the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). Licensed foster parents whose income is up to 300% of the federal income guidelines may also be eligible for Basic Health. (See the table below.) Premiums for those who are eligible would be no higher than $100 per licensed foster parent per month. There is NO dollar amount minimum ---they just need to know that you are able to pay your own bills and would not have to rely on the child's board payments to keep your household up and running. You can not be in bankruptcy either and they will check out where you work and how much you make, They will also go over all your bills also.

If you make enough money to feed, clothe and house your family, and have a safe, insured vehicle you should be fine. You may not always have a foster placement, so you need to be able to afford your rent/mortgage without foster care payments. If you have cheap housing, you can make less than if you bought a 6br house in hopes of having foster care payments to pay for it :)

i thought that that's how foster families made all their money? by taking in kids? you'd have to call your state agency about this matter.
