Why do most of North Indians hate Southies? Why do they treat them in a bad manner?
-
Why do they hesitate to speak and blah blah..Why does this discrimination among same country people.

Answer:
North Indians don't hate South Indians but at the same time don't love them as well. No feelings as such. Saying that I would also point out that the cultural difference between them is huge which can never be totally bridged. Their language, culture, food, films, music, artists everything is different. People up there in North don't even know all this until some of them actually come down to experience it.

I am making an assumption that this topic was stated by an Indian. I have come across several North Indians hate South Indians and vice-versa topics on the net that were actually not started by the Indians. Funny? Consider the exodus of Indians from the north east from Bangalore, this was very real, but not really triggered by Indians, and it was not funny. I'll give you a short and precise answer. No we do not hate Indians from the South. Nor do we love them desperately. We treat them at par with what we treat most of the Indians from North India. Yes some of us are arrogant and act stupidly, so are some among the Indians from the South. Such arrogant and stupid people do not treat any Indian from South or North any differently.

Culture and language divide does play a significant role in creating such scenarios, but developing mutual hatred largely depends on the patterns of the interacting parties at an individual level.

This answer is based upon common observations and not to hurt anyone's feelings. In general, North Indians don't feel that comfortable with South Indians and vice verse. Major reason lies in the differences in cultures, education and languages, also the hate politics played by local leaders.Language : South Indians are normally not fluent in Hindi and four South Indian languages [Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malyalam] are totally different from Hindi and Hindi like languages (Punjabi, Marathi, Gujrati, Bengali, etc). English works as a bridge, but again North Indians are not good in English ( in general ). Cultural Differences : South Indians are more educated, shy, miser, conservative, well behaved and God fearing, as contrast to North Indians, who are more outspoken, aggressive, extravagant, unruly, ill-mannered and gutsy (again in general ).Local Politics : Local politicians, specially in South India makes people against North Indian people and Hindi language. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Hindi_agitations_of_Tamil_NaduDistance from Mainstream National Media : Local News channels and movie industries try to increase this divide further by not including National events. So in a way, it feels like they are leaving in a separate country all together. National channels also don't cover South Indian related content, due to lack of viewership. In summery, South Indians try to maintain their separate identity and North Indians try to behave as South is not even part of India.

You're assuming that NI's hate SI's in your question. I can't really answer that (I'm a Maharashtrian, which is culturally very much different from the majority of both NI and SI, and anyway it's impossible to answer loaded questions) I can answer your "hesitate to speak" part, though: Maybe because of the language divide? North Indians generally speak Hindi and are uncomfortable with English. The reverse applies to SI. Aside from that, I've noticed that NIs and SIs "clump" together a lot. In my institute (IIT Bombay), most telegus (called 'gultis' here) socialize within their groups/cliques and not much outside that. Such experiences create a mental barrier for some when dealing with an andhraite (which then generalises to south indians). I guess the same thing applies to North Indians.

Many people answered your question but i just want add the perspective of the few states of North India... I am not including UP and Bihar as I have never been there and also my answer's feelings don't justify their mindset. I am from Haryana and yaa now you can guess the harshness of North Indians. NI languages are harsh whether its punjabi or dialects like haryanvi, dogri.himachli, and even kashmiri. My family came from Punjab(Lahore) during partition and they always had this anger towards southies that they elected Jinnah because of whom punjab got divided and this anger is equal in Punjabis,Haryanvis and Himachlis. We don't treat them in a bad manner .... NIs are harsh and no doubt in that.... But history is only enough to know why NIs are harsh....Whenever south indian people talk (especially keralites) they feel proud on their states rather than country as is the assumption and its mine too I have been to kerala and I wasn't really welcomed...Hate ... part ... Hate word is harsh.... Actually we think southies high at intellectual levels but on the other hand less strong as compare to physical level... and that might be the cause of bigotry... And also I have seen online that they call NI states poor and actually the states I mentioned are among the top states in one or the other field.... PS:- Punjabis and Haryanvis,Himachalis hate when southies associate them with UP and bihar.... they carry their own identity... as south indians hate when we call them as madrassi

Population of india is 1 billion. So people are more and resource is less. So people who don't get the piece of pie are busy in finding excuse to hate and fight others.
