Getting adoption records?
-
How can I get adoption records without a lawyer or going to court. I need to find out who my mother's real parents were.
-
Answer:
Ask your mother what information she has, and contact the agency that handled the adoption in the first place. Despite what they say, they do NOT destroy those records. If they say that they are destroyed, they have probably been microfilmed. Ask for a copy of the Records of Destruction if they say that they were. You might find this link to be helpful.
