  • Answer:

I'm not sure where you live, but I'll tell you what I'm doing. I've done some searching online and found a wonderful local track. I'm starting out racing in a league that utilizes the tracks rental karts. Its cheap and it will help you get the basics down. Being that I'm 31 and just now getting into karts, I'll tell you that you're getting in at a good age. I wish I had started that early. Find a local track that supports beginners, pro racers, and everyone in between. Talk to the people that work there and the people of all ages that race there. Take any advice given. Start slowly and work your way up to faster karts, and practice as much as you can afford to. If you keep your head in the game and your eyes on the prize, you'll no doubt be the next Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel!

and here is another one... OK, unless your parents are multimillionaires you are never going to get chance to be a European Champion, no matter how talented you are. People race karts either because it's fun, because they are rich and have a miniscule chance of being a successful racing driver, or because they are not rich, deluded and have no chance of being a racing driver. As for getting started, you could either enter a Championship which will take you around the country to race at different tracks, or you could just join a club and race at your local track. Look ont tinternet to see when there's an event on at your local track if you decide to go club racing (cheaper option) and have a chat with the people there. If you want to race properly you need to pick a class. Some suggestions would be Easykart, TKM, Rotax, and KGP although there are plenty more. Choose a class, but make sure you do your research, which doesn't mean "yahoo answers... what is the best karting class?..." you need to turn up at some events and do your own homework properly. By the time you're chosen a class you should have to contacts to find out what to do next! Also, did any1 tell you that karting costs an absolute bomb? Well it does, so don't get your hopes up that mummy and daddy will finance you to do any more than lawnmower style "pro-karts" "If you keep your head in the game and your eyes on the prize, you'll no doubt be the next Lewis Hamilton or Sebastian Vettel!" I'm sorry but are you going to tell that same thing to the MILLIONS of others who think they can get into F1? Also, even 13 years old is still too late. Most start at 8 in a Cadet class! I feel like the bad guy ruining it for people here but trust me I'm doing you a favor in the long run. Enough people have put everything into becoming a racing driver and ended up working at Palmer Sport for £25000 a year.

First thing you need to do is find your local tracks and see what classes they are running and which one you can afford, as they don't just sponsor you a kart, you have to buy your own at this point of the game, and mom and dad are your sponsors. if you get to the point where you can win races then you can look at sponsors and championships.
