I don't think it's legal to transfer more than ten grand. What you can do is open an account at Bank of America, they have them in India, and then withdraw the money once you get there. But beware, my sis was travelling there and was told she could withdraw money in Bombay, well Mumbai, and they were wrong, it was a BOA business bank, not for personal banking.
