Is it wrong to name your child after a deceased family member?

Is it possible to name the queen of england, or any other royal family member, the god parent of your child?

  • Answer:

I don't think so. Doesn't your god parent have to be alive? The last "queen of england" (do you know how to capitalize?) died almost 300 years ago!

Not without her express consent.

My god i hope so.

The Queen of England died 300 years ago, so I doubt it would be her.

Godparents are named at the christening and they have to front up in person. If you named the Queen and she didn't show up at the Christening then she wouldn't be the godmother. Royals have taken on these roles already - for example, Prince Charles is the godfather of Tom Parker-Bowles (which is a bit icky when you think about it).

Certainly, if she is a family friend and you have already asked her if she wants to take on this role and she has agreed. It is utterly improper to name anyone at all - royal or not - a godparent unless and until all this has happened. Stupid, too, because you'd look a right fool if you named that person publicly and they then refused.

Who is this QUEEN of ENGLAND? WE have had a BRITISH MONARCHY for over 300 years.....The ONE I think you mean was NOT given that title but crowned that of the UK etc...Pass it on hey, as we are a LITTLE bored with the same old, same old......She is a GODMOTHER....QE2 that is.....

There is no such person as the queen of england, hasn't been for about 300 years, the person you have for your child as godparents must be someone you know and trust, not some person you have only seen in hello magazine, get real.

I take it you Mean the current Queen, who is the Queen of England as well as many other Countries. Yes if you know her quite well, as far as I know she is God mother to quite a few people. The most prominent I can find is Helen Elizabeth Colville, but I can't find her married name and what she will be known as today, and I can't find the second Godmother, her Mother was a Lady in waiting to the Queen.
