Weight is much more important than height, so I wouldn't follow the chin rule too closely. You need to consider if you will be riding park/pipe or freeriding and also what king of snow conditions you will be seeing (powder, ice, hard pack, etc). When you go and look for a snowboard you should make sure the snowboard goes atleast up to your chin but no higher then your nose so you are able to stay in control also make sure the board is wide enough for your feet you dont want the boots to hanger to far over the board but a little is fine.
