What size snowboard would you recommend?

I have been snowboarding for about 1 full season, but I haven't yet been able to figure out how to carve. I thought my board was too big for me at first. Just wondering what size ...show more

Answer:
Ok, 3 things matter when choosing board size: your weight, your ability, and the type of terrain you ride. Height doesn't factor at all, as you could be 250 lb and 5'5" or 6'4' 140lbs. Based on your weight and ability I would recommend an all-mounatin board somewhere in the 144-148 range. stay on the shorter side of that range if you intend to ride park a lot.

deffinately not a 155, im 6' and i ride a 152 but thats because i only weigh 130. Its ALL about your weight not your height, your board doesnt care how tall you are it just cares how much weight you put on it. 115lbs would probably be a size 146-152 depending on what you want to do. the more you weigh the more flexible boards are so if you get like a 146 it will be super bendy and if you get a 154 it will be alot stiffer because they are built for bigger people

Hey!!! I'm 115lb and I ride from 143cm to 146cm, I have a 149cm for powder days, I also ride over 100 days a season sooooo that's why I have a few boards. Your boots may be a problem on a smaller board, make sure your bindings are set up perfectly with no toe drag , you may need toe risers. Check out www.bettersnowboarding.com and email me with any questions. ROME, BURTON, K2, ROXY, RIDE are some brands you might want to check out, make sure you get a girls board, it makes a difference.

i would say somthing about a 150 would be a great board. Heres how you can decide yourself, look at the recomended weight range of a given size board. The manufacturer will provide specifics for each length of each of its models. If you fall into the lowest portion of the recomended weight range the board will be stiffer comparitevely and will be more stabole at higher speed than if the board was softer compared to your weight. I'm thin and i ride my boards stiffer, (140lbs and i ride boards that recomend from 140-190) this is fine but burton seems to have stiffer boards compared to others, Soft boards make for easier turns at slow speeds and are good for rails and boxes. Id recomend a medium flex board, cuz you can do it all. Also many companies have ratings on how stiff the board is.. so theres things to factor in if you wanna sweet setup, A longer board will be stiffer, but allow better float in powder, because more surface area. Next certainly pic a board which fits your boot size. I think a womens size boot is 1.5 sizes smaller than a mans, so judging from that, your boards waist width should be inbetween 23 and 24 cm (this is the center of the board) im a guy i ride 25.7 size 10 boots, ( the foot increases .8 cm per WHOLE size) you can even go look online at a foot sizing chart and see, the narrower the board you will be able to turn directions easier, while a wider board will be more stable (up to a degree ofcourse) wider board= more surface area, better float in powder and you wont have a problem with boot drag, but yes optimally yyour boot should hang over the board for leverage, i will ride between a 25 and 25.9 cm wiast width board, thats acceptable, but id prefer a 25.7 for stability and not having to worry about boot drag on the snow. Any questions, email me

for you, i'd say like anywhere around a 155cm board, regular width. thats if you're on regular hard park snow. go a little longer if all you hit is deep soft powder. my g/f has the same exact features as you and she rolls into the park with a 154cm Ride board. as a general rule though, you want your board between your chin and nose, i like keeping mine between my lips and nose, just incase i do go on some deep powder. good luck this year =]
