How do u prepare for snowboarding?

  • im going snowboarding (my first time) and im not sure how to get ready. Can u help me??? any1 thx

Do some sit ups since you're going to need strong stomach muscles to pull yourself up off the ground. Also work on your triceps and shoulders as they get worked from pushing yourself up off the ground. Squats and lunges will work your legs, they get a real workout snowboarding. Don't forget to stretch before you hit the slopes, you'll be glad you did. And some things you are well advised to purchase and wear when learning to snowboard: Impact shorts that you wear under your clothes. They really save your... well you know.. when you are learning. I highly recommend knee pads, just get some cheap ones at Wal-Mart or similar store and wear them under your pants. Also a really good idea for a beginner is wrist guards. Your natural tendency is to put your hands out when you fall and as a beginner you're going to be falling a lot. It puts a lot of stress on your wrists and they can get very sore. Wrist guards won't prevent all broken wrists, but they provide some protection, and a broken wrist is a very common injury in snowboarding. Head injuries are also quite common so more and more people are wearing helmets as a result. So please consider getting one if you don't already have one. One hard fall on your head and you'll be glad you have a helmet on. Bottom line... when you're learning try to protect as much of your body as possible because you are going to be falling down a LOT. I highly recommend that you buy good waterproof pants, at least 15k rating. You'll be on your butt a lot and you don't want to get wet. Also buy Gortex gloves. They are expensive, but you don't want your hands wet and freezing or you won't be having a good time. But don't worry, it does get fun and you'll be glad you stuck it out and learned. I love snowboarding and I'm so glad I kept at it until I learned and started having fun. It is fantastic.

A very vague question that I'm not going into detail about, but as a beginner there are 3 things you definitely MUST have as far as equipment: Excellent waterproof gloves, Excellent waterproof pants, Wristgaurds. Also, do 10-12 minutes of stretching your body before you board.

keep your knees bent and hands in front of you(over the front of the board)...dont give up after your first day(it'll probably be painful and frustrating and then it all clicks and you'll be riding like a champ!!!--may even happen on your first day! one other thing, avoid the bunny slope--many people make the mistake of thinking this will be the easiest place to learn but definitely is not--the short hill and no slope doesn't allow you to get in a rhythm, look for long green trails (easy) and some mild blue trails(intermediate) on your first day..ask ski patrol for some recommendations for easy beginner trails if you get stuck...have fun!!!!!

good gloves and pants and a helmet

k2 snowboards

HELMET, KNEE AND ELBOW GAURDS ARE A MUST! Lessons are the best way to start. They will teach you the proper way to fall so as not to get hurt. The one guy is right about the butt. You will fall on it alot and it will get sore. Have fun and most of all bre safe!

Well you can get ready to fall on your but for most of the day. I begins to hurt after awhile so maybe you should stuff a small pillow in your pants
