Burton Custom Smalls Snowboard - Is it too small for me?

  • Hey everyone. I'm just curious if a 145cm snowboard (2009 burton custom smalls) would be okay to ride, despite the fact that it's probably a bit small for me. I'm ...show more

  • Answer:

The Custom Smalls is a park board, with twin shape and twin flex. (You probably already knew that, I was kind of reminding myself.) That board would be okay for park, as long as it is small jumps or rails, and it would be great for jibbing, although a smaller adult board would be better for all of those things. If you took it out of the park... First of all, you would have trouble turning. There is not enough effective edge on a board that small to turn you efficiently. Second of all, the flex would be way too soft, and it would become a noodle at almost any decent speed barring the bunny slope. Finally, you would break the board very easily, as it is not built to support the weight of a teenager/adult. -side note - As the board is built for kids, your feet would most likely be too big for it, and you would have a lot of toe/heel drag problems. If you really want a short board for park, I would look into a mini board made specifically for adults who want small boards. Rossignol makes a board like that which belongs to their mini series. http://www.snowboardsusa.com/html/rossignol_mini_snowboards_0.html http://www.snowboardsusa.com/rossignol/index.html

Hi, Unfortunately it will be too small. The weight range on the Custom Small 145 is 80 to 130 lbs. You are already 10 lbs heavier than the manufacturers range and if possible, you should always aim to be centerred in the weight range. This board was designed around 95-100lb riders. There are pleanty of other great options available. Best of luck!
