well the rentals in the US are awful too, so I doubt Canada is much different. for a serious skater, buying is really the only option. check your phone book (lol they have those in canada right?) and look for skate shops, sporting good stores, etc. call before you go and ask about the quality and prices. or, call up a skating rink and ask them for their advice. http://www.yellowpages.ca/ you might want to consider buying a used pair since they are so expensive (i mean, for all the stuff you need, it sounds like it really would be cheaper to ship your skates from japan...). we've got stores here that sell sporting goods (including skates) on consignment, so maybe there's a store like that near you. there's always the internet. http://montreal.en.craigslist.ca/
