  • Answer:

Ballet and pilates would be the best. And there is no such thing as "level for age". You get through levels when you get through levels. And the only thing that is going to get you through levels is SKATING.

BALLET!!! Ballet is THE off-ice training for figure skating! You will work on stretches, flexibility, jumps, it will help shape your feet and body, give you core muscle, discipline, grace, and poise. I love ballet! It has helped me with my figure skating so much! If you have a concern of being with a bunch of little girls in a class, don't worry because there are many studios/schools with beginning ballet teen classes. Remember that we're not becoming principal dancers, just trying to get some great training in! Other things are definitely yoga, gymnastics, pilates. To work on some stuff on your own to help flexibility is just stretching everyday! Find a time each day to sit down and stretch...it helps so much! To work on your jumps, do lots of jump-rope, and off-ice jumps. Remember to push through your toes. I totally recommend ballet for helping you with skating in many, many ways! Have fun! :)
