  Rental prices vary so you have to call around, call the mountain where you'll be racing, and the ski shop where you'd be renting from. If you're going to be using the skis all season long ski shops offer season leases of boots, skis & bindings and poles, starting as low as $99, depending on what you rent. For a season lease you get to keep the skis, boots, poles all season. That said, I don't know that rental skis will be good enough. You need to talk to the ski coach when school starts about what you need in order to race. You may need to invest in race skis and a good fitting pair of boots. The boot fit is the most critical to racing success, so don't skimp there. Maybe the coach knows someone on the team looking to sell their race skis. You need to check with the coach if there are specific measurements required (length and side cut) and a specific type of ski, like slalom or GS.
