  • Answer:

First ICE your knee. Tendinitis can be easily kept in check through adequate icing. Second check your shoes. First look to see how old they are. Lots of high school runners run on shoes that have holes in them. If you had your shoes for a while, consider getting news ones. Also look at the wear on the bottom of your shoes. Chances are your over-pronating and you need to find a stability or motion control shoe with a medial post (hard plastic that keeps foot from rolling inwards). If your over-pronating you will notice that the inside of your shoe is worn out considerably more than the outer side.

You probably have tendonitis. This means you have inflamation of a tendon in your knee. The best thing to do is ice it as much as possible. Its more commen then you would think but it's very painful. I know first hand because I play basketball and get tendonitis in my left knee. Another thing you can do is get this band thing that goes around your knee. You can get them at most sports equiptment stores. Another thing to keep it from getting worse is to NEVER run down hill. Its not good for your knees. There is no cure for tendonitis but these things will keep it from getting worse

It could just be you're developing muscle, which is a good thing. I've always had problems with my knees and my doctor said it was because there wasn't enough tissue between the bones. So I started running and walking more and it actually became more painful, but only until I developed enough muscle.
