Write articles about the subject your site's about and then submit it to sites like www.ezinearticles.com and www.goarticles.com You can't outright advertise your site in the articles, but you can link to it from the "resource box", which is something like a mini bio. If you don't like to write, then you can try to find a ghost writer to do it for you. Some ghost writers charge a lot less than google adwords. You can also join forums and participate. Have your site's url in your signature line.

This is important because - even though you don't get paid for your articles - if someone picks them up and uses them on their site, they have to give you credit and include your url. 2. Become an active participant in forums and blog postings in your specialty area. Again, it gets your name out there. 3. Submit to free web directories.
