Reasons why tattoos are not addictive?

Can someone give me a list of reasons why tattoos are not physically addictive? it's for a debate

Answer:
Going for tattoos can be addictive because when you get a tattoo your body responds to the pain by releasing endorphins into the bloodstream. Endorphins activate the opiate receptors in the body and have a similar chemical structure to the pain relieving drug morphine. So basically you get a feeling of euphoria as you would from opium. Hence this is the reason why some people keep going back for more and more tattoos, so tattoos can be sort of addictive, but i admit its not like being hooked on heroin and a habit really hard to break.

I actually think they are! But I guess that the pain could put a certain number of people off them, so that could be one reason for your list.

Do some research on symptoms of physical addiction. Things that happen during withdrawal... tremors, hallucinations, sweating, increased heart rate, etc. By definition, it is not physically additive to get a tattoo. You're going going to go through physical withdrawal if you're not constantly getting tattoos.

When there is special meaning to one? After my first tattoo I was all geared up for a sleeve and more but then everytime I looked in the mirror and read what my tatt stood for I realised that all I need was the one. It meant something compared to if I had my whole body done and it covered by some other piece of work.

I would say if you really aren't a big tattoo person, they wouldn't be addictive. Where as some people are more eccentric, or creative, or just enjoy tattos.. Might find out that they are like potato chips. Can't have just one! I went out to get my lip pierced and came back with that and two tattoos in the same day. Physically addictive is a different story.. there is aboslutely NOTHING in any kind of ink they use that can cause addiction. If it did, it wouldn't be allowed to be used. Like a drug, ya dig? However red ink is known to have nickel in it and can cause severe reactions. Other than that.. physically addictive.. no. Mentally FOR SURE.
