Why do we celebrate Diwali?

Diwali, i think is great festival of Hindus, But i just want to know why sikhs celebrate it in great way?

  • I like Sikhs, but i don't know the basic reason behind this that sikhs also celebrate this festival like Hindus. Is their any other story behind this.

    Sikkhism is just another version of Hinduism. Guru Nanak thought he would simplify Hindu ritualistic customs and started it. Same as Dayanand Saraswati or Raja Rammohan Roy. But later it took another turn under Guru Govind Sing. It is a long History. Usually a Punjabi house would have 1 son, usually the eldest as a Sikh. Rest would cut hair and all. So Sikhs have same Festivals as the rest of Hindus.

Historically, the sikh ( keshdhari) was the eldest son of any Hindu family. The son would follow the panth( path) while still being a part of the Hindu family. Obviously, Sikhs celebrate all the festivals that Hindus do, including Rakhi, Diwali, Karwa Chauth, Holi etc and plus some more like Baisakhi and Lohri that the Hindus join in.
