There are bits and pieces of correct info in the top three posters. Go ahead and waste the time on the ezine articles submission if you have the time to waste. Especially helpful in low low competitive industries. It's ok to do this once, but like the top poster said, your link will be buried in a hurry (so the value is very small). Quality web marketers do not use ezine submissions as their primary means of promotion. If you're lucky you'll get 50 links back from a bunch of submissions.
