How long does it take for search engines to index my new site?

    Ok, a bunch of the answers float around why and whatnot, but here's the real deal. You're page has no content save for the meta data. You need to put up some actual text on the site and then post your url on some do-follow blog comment pages to link back to your site. Just make sure what you're commenting is appropriate to that blog. You can manually submit to the search engines, but in this day and age, that method is sort of outdated. Try finding an authority site in your niche and exchanging (or even buying) a link back to your site. You'll find that the other search engines will "find" your site, but you'll still need to get some content on your site for the search engines to index.

Hey Christina! It does take weeks. Do you know about ping-o-matic where you ping your site to get the search engine spiders attention? It is FREE software...just do a google on it.

You may find that you can get a small amount of search engine traffic from the lesser known search engines quite quickly but Google and Yahoo are going to take a bit longer. If you cannot wait for results there are other options. You can pay for entry to Yahoo under their pay per click scheme and then pay them each time someone clicks on your link. http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/index.php Google use a system called AdWords, for more information, here, https://adwords.google.co.uk/
