What software to use as a tax preparer?

    This tax season was my 39th; started when we almost had to use chisels and stone tablets. Since 1998 I have used Taxwise; every year I have looked at other offerings and keep going back and using Taxwise again. They have minor problems but always get them solved; I am male and therefore have a license to whine, so it will go without saying that whine I will. Contact me if you have any specific questions; I have transisted from the pen and paper and adding machine days of 1970 to the here and now and have pretty much seen everything possible that can happen in taxes. Now that the season is winding down I have time to chit-chat and yada. Stay as far away from an outfit called TRX as you can.

The firm I worked for used Drake Software. I didn't care for it myself but that is what they bought & used. I thought the training was worthless.

this should have been your first consideration, not your after thought most of the people I know in the business use Lacerte, some use Drake, I use Tax Act because most of my clients have very simple returns the difficult ones I plug in the numbers and let the program do the calculation
