I'd see a chiropractor . . . a regular doctor is probably just going to slip you a few pain pills. your doctor could maybe recommend you to a physical therapist too, that would be very helpful. Usually I'd recommend a massage for numbness and pain, but since it's a possible slip disc, it's probably the tension of muscles around the thing keeping it in place.
