Answer:
Could be a heart attack. Go see the doctor. It could also be bursitus. Some type of pulled muscle, I think. I remember my dad had this about a year ago and we thought he was having a heart attack.

I'd go to a Dr, definitely signs of a heart attack, my bro in his 30's just had this ... and the fact that it's at night is a good indicator of a blockage ... chest pain and tingling/numbness also good signs. Don't think that age is a factor ... my brother isn't fat and wasn't an unhealthy type but it happened to him and he was getting signs for a week, and he almost skipped going to the ER, but any chest pain is worth a check .... better safe than sorry. Most heart attacks happen at night according to the pamphlet on H.A. and that's why a lot of serious issues come into play ... people believe it's an end of day pain or some effect from a meal that's affecting them ... and try to work through it till the morning ... the sooner you get it checked the less damage to the heart muscle ... my brother was fortunate that he listened to us.

Any time you have pain especially in the chest area you need to call your doctor or better yet go to the emergency room in your local hosptial right away. Let the medical profession be the judge of how serious this is. What may be nothing to one person could be a serious situation to another. Don't wait, see a doctor! Take care.

For how long? Could be a pinched nerve. Or a partially separated shoulder? Did you do anything that would have caused that? You should see a doctor if it's been going on for a few days and either getting worse, or not getting better.

Could be a lot of things, cardiac issues are unlikely but sometimes unusual symptoms do present in women and yes age IS a factor. It would be very unusual for someone in their 20's or early 30's (unless they have a strong family history) to have a heart attack or angina. Still, since heart attacks can be deadly it's always important to go to the ER for any kind of chest pain. They'll do an EKG (which are not good for diagnosing heart problems) but they'll also draw blood which can and does show problems with the heart. They'll monitor your pulse, blood pressure and treat your pain, if need be. Otherwise, if the symptoms persist, it might be reasonable to see a Cardiologist and have a nuclear stress test, scan and/or Ultrasound of the heart. Invasive procedures probably won't be done initially but the doc will ascertain that. Other possibilities, esophageal issues such as spasms, heartburn (GERD) can cause some strange symptoms/displacement pain. Chest wall pain. Less likely causes would be serious problems with the esophagus, Pulmonary Embolism, lots of things but the latter are much less likely and usually produce severe symptoms. Nurse M
