  If you don't take it on a regular basis, it takes about 5-7 days for the medication to clear your system, so you'll fail any drug test you take for the next week or so. It only takes a month or more if you take it regularly. As far as effects, the half-life (length of time the medication is effective) is about 4-6 hours. For one pill, if this is an ilsolated thing, you'll be clean again in about a week, certainly not a month. The more you take, the longer it takes to get out of your system... so if you took them every day for a week or two, it might take a month to be clean, but definitely not for one pill, that's insane. You basic, run of the mill drug tests administered by an employer, the police, or a probation officer tests for 5 different drugs: opiates/morphine, cocaine, pcp, marijuana, and ampehtamines. The opiate part of the test will pick up ANY prescription opiate as well as heroin, because they are testing for all opiates, not just Morphine. As a chronic pain patient, I have to take a drug test at my pain clinic that tests for specific drugs and how much is in my system so that the docs know if I am taking the right amount of my medication and if I am taking something other than they prescribe. That type of test is sent to a toxicology lab. SO if I took 4 of my Oxycontin and 2 Lortab, the test would tell the doc that I have 160 mgs of Oxycodone and 20 mgs Hydrocodone in my system and I'd be in trouble. Regular drug tests don't go that specific, but you definitely would fail because the tests pick up metabolites of the opiates. Since they are testing for the metabolites of all opiates, and not just the metabolites of Morphine, any of them will trip the opiate panel on a drug test.
