Hey, I'm in the same boat! ...well, kind of. haha, I am taking the AP US Government and Politics exam even though it is not offered at my school. So, I need a very good review book. Also, I plan on retaking the APUSH test because I got a 1 (kind of scared to face that teacher now....I was an excellent student and I am sure she will be disappointed. But I just didn't give it my best effort). I am currently browsing book reveiws online for the AP US Government and Politics exam as I have already purchased the AMSCO United States History Preparing For The Advanced Placement Exam because several sources have said it's the best. However, there doesn't seem to be a similar one for AP US Gov't. Only found an outdated one with a similar title (not by AMSCO unfortunately). I am going to rate this as an interesting question in the hopes it will bring you more answers, and I personally find it interesting. I know a lot of others will find this helpful! But as of now the best government book seems to be Barron's. I'll keep my eye on this question for more updates. Thanks! Maybe you could let me know once you've found the best one? And best of luck to you on your exams! (I'm also taking AP Biology-YIKES) haha. goodbye. sorry for ranting. :)

DON'T DO IT! DO NOT TAKE AP CHEMISTRY WITHOUT HONORS/REGULAR! I did it this past year, and it was hell! If you really must take it, use a mixture of Kaplan (It's really good with the general concepts and doesn't have a lot of the extra stuff you don't need to know) and Barrons (It has all the details). If you use both, then you'll have a good mix. Probably use a Princeton review for Gov. Most people (myself included) like that brand for History/Government (I haven't taken government yet though, I'm just going by what people tell me and the fact I liked it for World History). Once again, save yourself while you can and drop AP Chem. There were 40 kids at the beginning of the year (most were Juniors that took Honors the year before, but there were around 4 of us that were sophomores that didn't have any chemistry knowledge). By the beginning of second semester, there was only 17 (3 of the sophomores dropped out) =/ It's really brutal. And the labs SUCKED! You do one tiny thing wrong, and all your results are messed up! Or it explodes (not really, but some of the stuff burns). (Sorry for my ramblings)

i rly like cliffnotes, barrons and princeton are too vague for me. and sometimes they contain errors. cliffnotes is very detailed and true.

Wow good luck on AP chemistry not having taken a regular class! I had Cliffs for AP biology and I really liked it. I think all of them are pretty much the same though. I"d recommend Cliffs, Barrons, or Princeton Review. Also, you could try getting a review guide that goes with your textbook.

In my opinion, you should use a longer review book like Barrons or Princeton to help you learn throughout the year, and then five steps to a five closer to the actual exam day for faster and less in depth review. I used the Barrons for AP Chemistry and I thought it was good, and I did pass the AP test. Good luck to you!

Barron's or Princeton's Cracking the exam will do for all of them. They're the top best choices, just Barron's has more detail (helpful for the exam written responses but some of it just isn't necessary) and Princeton's is straight to the point. As for AP Chemistry, I strongly recommend that you take some time during the summer and learn some chemistry concepts because AP chemistry is build up/add-on to what you already know and they expect you to have already learned it. (It is recovered though) Klg.

for chem just make sure you understand stochiometry, and significant figures. the rest will be reviewed in the 1st semester of chem. and make sure you have a scientific calculator
