Do you think IQ tests (and also the ACT and SAT) are accurate depictions of someone's intelligence?

I guess I am one of your cases. Even though my score is still well above average, compared to the SAT scores of some of the kids with similar GPAs and stats like mine, my SAT score is considered below average. My parents made me go to an SAT class all the time, but it didn't seem to help raise my scores that much. While I do definitely agree that the tests can test aptitude to a certain degree, I don't think they should be used alone to determine aptitude. That's why colleges tend to look at the whole picture, rather than just the SAT alone.

ACT and SAT are for your academic knowledge. High schools are not all the same, they all do not give the same education. Colleges have to have some way of knowing what a students knows and doesn't know. Two different students from two different HS both with the same high 3.8 GPA don't have the same education. Even at the same high school. My daughter took all honors and AP level classes at her HS. Another student who took all general level classes can have an unweighted GPA of 3.8 too. But I guarantee you the honors/AP student is better educated.

i think they could accuartely depict someones intelligence except for that fact that people study for them, so those who study do better, which makes it innaccurate, or people have a bad day or something could make it less accurate
