What are exceptional SAT PREP books?

What are the best SAT prep books?

  • I want to know what types of books are useful to study for SAT. I also need "Test Taking Tips" books and vocabulary book. Any advice is appreciated!

  • Answer:

www.studentscholarshipguide.com has mainly scholarship advice, but also alot of help with ACT and SAT, see recommended sites for free help websites, and student advice to see what people recommend for national tests. Under the scholarship basics page, view preparing for scholarships, then click on academic, (the top link) it will show you some SAT books available. Good Luck

Ugh you have to be careful when buying these, as they are very expensive and some are rather worthless. Generally speaking, the Princeton Reviews are absolutely terrible--for example, I found numerous grammar errors AND poor advice in the SAT Reading/Writing Princeton Review--and the Barron's reviews are little simplistic (for Barron's SAT Subject Test books, if you're only looking to review a few concepts, they're great, but if you have to learn something for the test you weren't taught in school, the level of detail included may not be sufficient). It depends what you are looking for; it's best to go to a bookstore and browse through the different options a bit to see which book is written in a way that is useful to you and your purposes.

the college board makes an sat book....try and find it used though theyre kind of expensive they have practice tests and tips but as far as vocab...you cant just learn that overnight cause the vocab in the sat is so broad....maybe do flash cards or learn some etymology would help but you wont just be able to perfect that

the SAT's are a very different kind of test. a test taking tips book probably wouldn't help. i like barron's, they seem to work well.. plus they (like i'm sure the others do) have a sat specific test taking tips section in there. i wouldn't do books for vocab. either get a card deck (i used kaplan for the gre, but they may do it for sats too), or if you want, the free Anki program, which is like e-flashcards
