How hard are the SATs?

  • So, recently my parents told me that they want me to attend an American university (I live in Canada), so now I am required to take the SATs. Since no one I know has experience with ...show more

It is difficult for many reasons: 1. You can be a bad standardize test taker 2. You didn't review the material you learned in the past, etc. There are more reasons, but you get the point. No matter how good a test taker you are, you don't know how you will do on the SAT because you never took one. So I would recommend ordering books for the SAT; You should definitely get the Official SAT guide from the test-makers ~it's a blue/green book with 10 practice tests, a Barron's book, which has flash cards in the back for Vocab and 3500 words and 5 tests. Just search on the forums of College Confidential, they give the best tips. What I am trying to say is that you should buy books to prepare, and look through the forums i mentioned above with people who successfully got 2400 (max score). The books also include a diagnostic test which tells you how you might do on the SAT. The average score is 1500, 500 on each of the 3 sections, and the maximum score is a 2400. A good score is 1800+, Ivy League is probably 2000+, but mostly 2200+ Also, it depends on how well prepared you are for the SAT to determine if it is hard or easy. It can be easy for a person who studied, but hard for a person who never looked at it before. hope this helped :/
