You can do better on your SAT by doing a few things. People will say go read this book or go read that book, but that's not the key. The key is practice. So much practice that you have mastered all the types of questions on the SAT. I started off with a 1700 on my first go around. I studied and took a course with kaplan for about 900 bucks. It was total garbage. The sat tutor merely read from a book for about 10 one hour sessions. I didn't improve at all. Eventually, I bought a review book off tutorfox.com for 10 bucks. It was a well written book. I also bought the Princeton Review's sat guide. I used both books and was able to improve my score significantly. I got a score above 2200 and was accepted into UCLA... 11 months ago

im in the same boat as you, i have 700s i math and writing but then for reading i scored a nasty low 600. and ew yeah its depressing. but my tutors tell me that i should keep reading articles as well as solving sat problems, although its a pain in the bum. i actually am done with studying for the sats because i think im going to consider the acts. i recieved a 2050 on the sat but then for the act i took a practice test and got a 33! for reading i recieved a perfect score of a 36. reading is significantly easier on the act.
