Why does a tatoo never come as skin cells replace and replenish themselves?

    well, thank GOD i was smart and got my tat put on my ankle. lol...no droopy moddled looking tats for this gal! lol well, you've got some pretty good answers. there is however a few things to look into that if you decide you want one, but not sure if you want it permanently is either "glow in the dark" ink or fading ink....either one is a very cool way, but usually are more expensive.

it is only the very top layers of skin that is replaced. the ink is in the lower layers. It doesn't actually fade, like something that sits out in the sun. some of it is assimilated bby the body.

well you kinda sorta answered your own question. after years and years, the tattoo fades or wears out a little bit because of your skin shedding. however, it does not completely come off because the tattoo is ingrained deep into your skin so much that it'll last long enough until the day you die. i.e. unless you live 200 years, it'll be with you forever.
