Is there really a difference between a HS Diploma and a GED anymore?

    In actuality, a diploma is just a certificate anyone can buy at Staples and fill out. It's no more meaningful than the "job well done" certificate you get for volunteering with the Girl Scouts or something. Colleges are interested in a transcript of your grades, including your grade point average. Your parents can create a transcript for you. Go to this link and scroll down (it's alphabetical) to Transcripts for resources to help. http://www.hslda.org/highschool/resources.asp#transcripts If you're interested in a specific college, contact the admissions office and ask them what they look for from home school students. Many, many universities are very open to accepting a portfolio from home schoolers. My daughter just got accepted to college last month based on her transcript and college application.

I can tell you firsthand that colleges look more highly on a Highschool diploma then a GED. They tend to think of a GED as a cope out that you couldn't really handle school and often Universities will actually turn you away if you see you have a GED and jobs will too.
