This is my experience with local public school : They do not hold anyone back. The statistics show that holding students back do nothing to improve future performance. The only case that I personally know of is where a parent requested a child to repeat the grade. I also know, personally, of several students who passed to the next grade who failed both class work and end of grade testing.

If you are planning on homeschooling her next year (NOT by using an online program, but just homeschooling her), don't worry about summer school or anything like that. Just get her started on working at where she's at and helping her improve. Kids usually struggle most due to low reading and writing skills. Focus on getting that up and the other subjects (except math) will follow since they are so based on the ability to read and write. If math is an issue, then bring that into your focus too. That's the beauty of homeschooling--you can provide individual tutoring at your child's pace and not worry about specific grade levels.

You do realize that if she's HS'ed you're going to have to be her primary teacher, correct? Even with online schools, a parent has to be the primary teacher - you cannot sit the child down at a computer and expect learning to take place. It takes a lot of committment on both the student and the parent's part. That said, you need to see if your state even has online school options. Is your DD in special ed services? If so, it sounds like you need to call a meeting to discuss her placement and her issues. I really don't think just pulling her out and HS'ing her for a year is going to solve much. It sounds like there are additional issues that are causing her to be behind and those need to be identified. If you're willing to work with them and work hard to get her caught up, then I suppose HS'ing may help a bit.

Try getting notes from the older levels and study those in summer. Ask her if she really does listen in class or if she understands her teacher. as of now, try explaining to her the lessons and ask her questions related to the topic. The best question that can be asked are questions that applies in life. it usually helps. if it is about memorization, try making her clues, it usually helps a lot.

Online tutoring is a great way to help your daughter with any particular subject. You pretty much get the same benefits of using a real tutor, but you can do it on-demand. Set up hour long sessions, or use it for a few minutes for a particular question. It think its better than setting up an entire session with a real tutor when you only need help for one or two particular problems.

maybe go to school and see if special ed is more for her. don't let her fall too far behind. home schooling costs up the butt.from 7th grade on through high school i was in sp. ed classes and i passed them with flying colors. maybe talk to the doctor. she may have adhd or some thing like that going on. but the things going on-whatever you mean- may have nothing to do with why she is failing. is her eyes ok? could be she cant read the board. there could be alot of factors you have no clue about. just something to think about.

what is the problem to study? is she not interested or i am sorry to day this is she mentally retarded? Consult a good career counsellor, if she is ready to work hard then ask her to write 10th privately by the time she gets 15 years! all the best
