    If you can read a curriculum and you are committed to your child getting a great, well rounded education home schooling is great. Remember, in schools not all the teachers are even prolific in the class they are teaching. They may be filling a gap where they are needed. In that case, they pick up the curriculum assigned them ( with that all important "key") and teach the children the material. You would be doing the same thing, only one on one with your child where you can go at your child's speed and follow his or her interests. Socialization is NOT a problem. My kids have a very full social calender and are often complimented on there politeness and ability to interact with people of all ages, not just a group of kids their own age in some "clique" they fit in too. Yeah. People actually tend to be smarter when they go into homeschooling than people who go to traditional schools. Martin Luther King (jr.?) was homeschooled and graduated at 15. One homeschooler won a National Geographics award awhile back. But the programs they have are usually online now, so it takes a lot of discipline and such to get used to it. It's almost better, too, because that's how college is. You MUST be disciplined in college to pass. So, why not start early? I take K12, and it's actually pretty good.

You'll have to be prepared to have someone tutor your child. But homeschooling is good, you should consider looking for Homeschool groups in your area and tlakign to some of the parents. I disagree with the person above me- all you have to do is make sure your kids still get out there and have fun, make sure you make time for them to go out to friends houses, etc.

I believe it really is not...even if the person teaching is well educated..your daughter would be real book smart...but how would her people skills be later? Probably not as good...school is there to teach us...but not just the 3 r's...also how to relate to others..make friends..deal with adversity..have healthy competition...be able to speak in front of a group etc. etc. Every one has there own opinion to this Q I am sure...but if we all were home when we were children..think how hard it would have been later..to relate..not to mention knowing others of all races..etc. etc. School is a great experience in many ways...not to mention the fun things as well...dances..proms..dating oh I have gone on long enough! LOL!!

It's good for their education, but social skills tend to sag when you home school.

probably not, because there are self-help books but your kids are going to need help with there schoolwork sometime....and thats were you come in.....unless you get a tutor.

I would think not. It takes a lot of patience besides smarts. Most of the people I know that home school are teachers or something close to that.
