A fun activity I have done with kids during the summer is ice races..You take paint that you water down a bit and freeze it into ice cube trays...after they are frozen on a hot day tape a piece of paper to a board and tilt it at an angle..I use the top of the sandbox and leaned it against a table...then give each child an ice cube...Having different colors for each child works best....Have then hold the cubes at the top of the board and at "GO" they left them slide down the paper...as they melt they color the paper...It is fun to do and then you have the paper as an art project to show the parents. Another thing to do it give each child a block of ice...We took empty milk cartons and froze water in them. Then give each child a bowl of salt...the kids can pour the salt on the block and watch it melt and see what they can make...the younger ones will enjoy melting the whole thing but the older ones will have fun creating something.... Those are just two ideas I have...

how about a hike or sharks and minnows. inside activities would be scavangers hunts. do something that both stimulates the brain and is fun.
