What can I do on the last day of Kindergarten?

What's a typical kindergarten day like?

  • What the title says. Could you please describe what a kindergarten-age kid would typically do during a day of school? Thanks. :)

  • Answer:

It depends on the school, but it typically includes the following: Morning Meeting (meet as a class, do the pledge, calender, have some sharing time) Language Arts/Literacy block (reading a story, letter of the week activity, acting out a story, reading comp., maybe some creative spelling later in the year, etc) May also have small reading groups, where the teacher meets with a small group and read together, do activities, etc Math Block: Hands-on math activities consisting of concepts like 1-1 correspondence, time, simple addition, measurement using nonstandard units, etc) Center Time: Playing in centers like blocks, dramatic play, art (unfortunately some kindergartens don't utilize this), also some more centers like math, science, etc. This gives them a chance to learn through play and reinforce simple skills. Rest time (some kindergartens have it, others don't) Science/Social Studies time: Science and social studies time with themes like all about me, family, plants, leaves, etc Many kindergartens also have other activities, like P.E., Art, Music, some offer Spanish. Usually the day concludes with a recap of the day, saying goodbye, and leaving. They have a busy day!! But most kindergartens keep it fun and educational (hopefully at least)
