  • Answer:

I wouldnt go to either....you are wasting your time and money....thousands of RR engineers and trainmen are furloughed right now...they get first shot at all the jobs as they opened back up...and they have actual experience....i liken it to a kid wanting to play in the NFL, if that is your dream, have at it, but realize the odds are very, very slim...

I do not know if NARS promotes a federal certified conductor in compliance with new law. That said. Why not go to a school that is owned by a Class 1 RR? I have met some of the instructors at NARS and the resources they have there are great! Does MODOC have the resources that NARS does? I would say probably not. If you go to a school and hire out at a Class 1, you will still have to go thru that companie's training. Research it well and go where you can afford and feel most confident in. Call NARS and ask them the question. By the way, now your chances of hiring on a Class 1 are slim, there are over 3000 furloughed on the BNSF. You might have to wait it out or hire on a short line and get some experience which couldn't hurt. Good luck.
