Under the new rule, with effect from 21-November-2011, advance reservation period of Tatkal tickets has been reduced from two days to one day (24 hours). Bookings can be made at railway ticket counters ( you need to stand in the front row in order to get a tatkal ticket ) or through booking website ( https://www.irctc.co.in ) the web site will not work most of the time when the try booking when the booking starts. The main rules are: *One day advance of the travel date only one can book a tatkal ticket. *Extra charge of Rs.75 will be charged besides the ticket fare. *No refund on cancellation is possible. *No concessions for senior citizen etc., are available. *While traveling with such tickets, the original proof of evidence (the one - mentioned while booking)should be carried.
