Suzuki Swift will not shift from Neutral?

Can I remove the shift knob in a 2004 Suzuki Verona? If so, How?

  • I would like the remove the original shift knob and replace it with a different one, but it doesn't just twist off like you'd think it would... suggestions?

  • Answer:

Do look for any lock screw or pin - but if you cant find one it is probably put on with "locktite" so the shift pattern lines up fore and aft. It will just take brute force to twist it off. Put a rag over it several thicknesses and put a pair of big slip joint pliers on it that ought to get it! Locktite - if you don't know is a liquid that you put on bolt threads and when it gets into the confines of the thread spaces - with no air - it turns to a solid - locking the threads in place. It is NOT glue - just causes lots of resistance to movement.

might need an allen key or torx key, look for something on the ring on the bottom of the knob.
